I tried to make this little project something fun that Braelyn and I could do together, and to my surprise, it went pretty well. I helped her pour the crust ingredients into the mixer. She snapped the bell pepper slices in half. She helped me spread the sauce and sprinkle on our toppings. We had a pretty good time for our first mother/daughter culinary adventure.
Here is our pizza before it went into the oven. Looks pretty good, I'd say. Lots of veggies! We have onions, olives, spinach, tomatoes, bell peppers, mushrooms, and zucchini! Yum!
Bon Appetit! The Mommy/Braelyn Homemade Veggie Pizza with Wheat Crust!
Here we are ready to chow down on some pizza and watch none other than...The Backyardigans!
Now, I quite enjoyed Pizza and a Movie Night. Braelyn, on the other hand, quite enjoyed Gerber Graduate's Raviolis and a Movie Night.
So it goes...the story of my life!
Thankfully, we were having a pleasant evening together. Otherwise, I think I would have cried all the way to the store where I would have gotten a half gallon of ice cream and transformed Pizza and a Movie night into Ice Cream and a Movie Night. Seriously, I'm a little fragile these days.
But back to the pizza. I don't think Braelyn had a problem with the veggies, so much as with the crust. It was very wheaty. I'm not sure it came out like it was supposed to. The taste and texture was more like bread than pizza crust. I mean, I really liked it, but I don't want, or need, a whole pizza to myself. Mandi...help! The future of Pizza and a Movie Night is in your hands! :)

the pressure- i don't know if i can take it! let's see, if you'd like a lighter flavor you could always try white wheat instead of red wheat. most whole wheat flours on the market are red winter wheat, which is great, but really hearty. golden wheat or white wheat (not to be confused with bleached, refined white flour) are a lighter wheat. not as nutrient dense as the red, but still a whole grain. i typically use gold wheat, which is hard to find 'round these parts. but you can find white wheat at heb. i think it's arrowhead mills. make sure it says white WHOLE wheat, or you're just getting white flour. hope this works- movie/pizza night is too fun!
Hey Stephanie. I have been reading your blog for quite some time now and I don't even remember how I came across it, but I figured it was time to introduce myself. Your pizza looks delicious, even if the wheat crust tasted more like bread. I love reading your blog and have been praying for your family for awhile now. Hope the craziness of summer doesn't calms down a bit.
God Bless,
~Tabaitha
Your pizza looks fab except for the mushrooms and peppers...ha ha ha
Oooh...thanks Mandi! Yes, I think we will prefer a lighter wheat. Yea! You saved the day...again. :)
And Tabaitha! Hi! I always love finding a new friend in the blogdom!!! Thank you so much for reading and saying hi and for your prayers...oh my goodness...thank you, thank you! I'm looking forward to getting to know you.
Ahh...what a great way to start my morning! :)
Hi Stephanie! I think you know that I read your blog often too! You truly inspire me and I find myself laughing and getting teary-eyed right along side you! I'm fragile these days, too, having just quit my job and having entered into full-time motherhood of our two boys - it is tough work, I tell you! At least Braelyn eats Gerber Graduates and will sit and watch a movie! I can hardly get Jacob (2 years, 2 months) to eat! :(
Anyway, hang in there. I'm with you in spirit as my hubby, Alex, works awful hours and I'm often alone with both boys all day and all night...
I know your schedule is packed, but the next time you and Casey are in Sugar Land, please let me know! Would be so great to see you after all of these years...
Love,
Terez
Thanks for the honesty in your last post about life when Casey is traveling. T's travel schedule with seminary, although less than Casey's, always takes me by surprise. Some of his trips I keep it together and manage the household well, others we are all in tears and end up driving to go have ice cream. It is only after looking back on these seasons of our lives do we see God's glory, It's sometimes hard to see in the midst of 12hr long days with little ones. :)
Hola! Miss you guys a lot! Your pizza looks yummy! But I still sometimes forget you have a little one! We will be keeping you in our prayers bc I know it must be rough without company/help around the house! Love you!
