To my Round Top buddies who feel betrayed and left behind...
I can explain. I only had one chance to go this season. My mom and I planned to go this past weekend and Casey watched Braelyn for me. Not wanting to ask too much of my already generous husband, I couldn't ask him to take ANOTHER day during the week so that I could go to Round Top again. We can't go this coming weekend because we have a Disciple Now. (I have to go because I'm leading a small group about sex! Woo Hoo!) Anyways...so I know my sweet and forgiving friends can understand my situation. However, if anyone wants to volunteer their babysitting services so that I can make another trip out there this week...I will be more than happy to sacrifice my time for a little more antiquing with friends. :)
So that's my story and I'm stickin' to it! There's always the fall! Let's get our calendars out and set a date! I'm serious! Do you think Iwould joke around about Round Top?! No, ma'am!
Regarding my little white bathroom cabinet...There's another one ladies!!! She came down on the price for me and I bet if it's still there by the end of the week she would lower the price even more!
the laughing and crying and cooking and cleaning and learning and failing and praying and risking...until Christ comes

Whew, That Was Fun!
Well, my Spring Round Top trip for '09 is officially done. Already! Crazy, huh?
And even though I wasn't really looking for anything in particular, I cleaned up, y'all!
Right off the bat, I found a perfect little cabinet to go in my bathroom for towels and such.
With just a little cash left, we explored the rest of what Warrenton had to offer, taking note of some smaller things that had purchase potential. Somewhere in there, I saw a beautiful cabinet for the dining room, but I knew I would need to wait and save to make a purchase like that.
Towards the end of our time, I texted Casey about my beautiful cabinet and he said to go ahead and get it! (Insert squeals of delight!) My man is so good to me!
So, here it is, my friends...the green one...
And there's that. I'll go pick them up on Monday. I can't wait to see them in the house.
For anyone who's planning on going, y'all have fun!
Thanks mom for such a great day! Let's set a date for Fall!

Coming Out of Retirement
I did it!
I can't believe I actually did it!
After months of waiting,
And wondering if I would ever actually do it...
I actually did it!
I grabbed my bag and healthy dose of courage,
I prepared myself for a serious blow to my pride,
I drove myself into Houston and took a modern dance class.
:::::SIGH::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
I feel like I've been holding my breathe for 6 years and I finally exhaled!
It was like hearing music after a long silence. The kind of music that stirs your soul.
It was like embracing a friend I haven't seen in many years.
It was wonderful!
It was a simple class...intro to modern at this studio... but it was just what I needed. Not too much that I would have been in tears, but just enough to remind my body that it loves moving. It remembered in an instant.
Thus far, I've taken all of this really slowly, and I will continue to proceed with caution, although I fear that that will become more and more difficult, but...I am at the same time encouraged and motivated by some possible opportunities that seem to be drifting my way.
We'll see. One step at a time.
For now, I will simply enjoy today. And I will thank God for it.

My Erica, My Taylor, & My Hero
Some of the details and highlights of Spring Break '09:
Thursday: My Erica's 20th Birthday (My Erica...as in the college student who lives in our garage apartment and who has become a dear sister to me. I don't think I've done life with anyone the way I've done life with this girl. Supposedly, she is planning on going to A&M next year, but there will be no more talk of that! Seriously...I can't handle it!)
We started out the evening at Rendezvous, a quirky little restaurant in downtown Brenham and then we headed back to my house for birthday dessert and a movie...Breakfast at Tiffany's!

Friday: The Rodeo and crazy drama!
For the first time in years, Casey and I went to the rodeo. We were invited by none other than, my Erica and her boyfriend, John. I was super excited about this because #1 we hadn't been in so long, #2 it was our first double date with John and Erica, and #3 I HEART TAYLOR SWIFT! Ok...that's kind of a lie. I barely knew anything about her or her music before Friday, but I was still super excited to go.
So after waiting in traffic, and waiting in line for a shuttle bus...
Now I knew this night was going to be interesting when the high school girl in front of us...this one...the only one standing up... ...started FREAKING OUT. To combat the "I'm Old" feeling I was getting I joined this girl in her Taylor Swift elation. She, not picking up on my sarcasm, mistook me for a genuine fan and began to confide in me by way of diarrhea of the mouth that the very song we were listening to was actually about herself and the girl sitting next to her. Later, Casey filled me into the fact that she was drunk. I'm so naive. I just thought she was super silly. Oh well.
But that's not even the exciting part! Oh no, my friends, the drama was just about to begin! After a few fabulous songs by my girl, Taylor, another cute high school girl joined the group in front of us along with her no good boyfriend (I could tell right away that he was no good). Being as there was only one seat, frat boy sat down and the cutie sat on his lap/stood in front of him. Right away we began to notice that frat boy was gettin' a little touchy-feely with cutie and his hands were going where they ought naught! Time and again we saw the cutie swat his hand away but her easy-access miniskirt proved to be too strong a temptation. Suddenly, out of NO WHERE Erica, John and I hear a deep, booming voice yell, "Hey! She told you to stop!" In slow motion I turned to my left and I realized that the deep, booming, angry voice was my husband's. With our saucer eyes we turned back to frat boy and his smart and classy response was, "This is my %#*!&@$ girlfriend!" Casey reminded him again that the cutie had repeatedly told him to stop, and again he shouted, "This is my %#*!&@$ girlfriend!" When Casey asked him where his ticket was..."This is my %#*!&@$ girlfriend!" He's clever that one!
While all this was going on, Erica, John and I were silently freaking out! I couldn't believe what was happening and I wanted it to stop! I could just see Casey and the frat boy having it out at a Taylor Swift concert! Finally after some more yelling, frat boy left because the cutie told him to go. She was upset, bless her heart, and I couldn't tell at first whether it was because of Casey or the frat boy. Not only that, all the cuties in front of us were talking and whispering. It was awkward. Later, one of the cuties told Casey thank you, and at that moment I was so proud of him. A lesser man wouldn't have stood up for that girl. And he did, regardless of what the cuties or anyone thought of him. At the end of the concert I told the cutie that we didn't mean to upset her, and she said that she appreciated what Casey had done and that frat boy was drunk and needed to be put in his place. "He gets like that, " she said. It made me so sad to know that she was choosing to put up with such vulgar and disrespectful behavior. "You deserve better," I told her and then we left.
As we walked through the carnival, I must have been the proudest girl in a sundress and cowboy boots that ever was! My husband is my hero. The defender of all silly girls! Way to go, Case!
Oh, and I really enjoyed the concert! That Taylor is quite the cutie, herself! I think if I actually had an iPod I might even put some of her songs on there! :) Thanks for inviting us, Erica! We'll be your rodeo dates anytime! :)
Well, I think that's about all the details and highlights we can stand for now.
A few more still to come...

...and waiting in line to get our food, and eating our food, and making the hike up to Reliant stadium, and waiting in line for the bathroom, we managed to see the last 3 or 4 bull riders, the calf scramble and my new favorite rodeo event...mutton bustin'! Hilarious! Then...the lights lowered...the roar of thousands of teeny-boppers pierced our ears...and Taylor and her curly, blonde locks took the stage. Now I knew this night was going to be interesting when the high school girl in front of us...this one...the only one standing up... ...started FREAKING OUT. No Regrets!
It was a great week. It was a perfect combination of quiet family time and quality time with great friends. I confess that 95% of my household chores that were mentioned in the previous post remain UNDONE. Yes, my proud and public commitment to organization and homemakery proved to be nothing but an empty promise. The fridge no longer has moldy food in it and my closet and chest of drawers are cleaned out, but that's as far as I got. But honestly, I don't regret it. I enjoyed the weather. I walked through bluebonnet fields. I spent time with my girlfriends. I made a gift. I celebrated birthdays. I shared meals. I caught up with my husband. I watched my daughter play with friends. I stayed up too late. I napped. I wore a sundress and cowboy boots. I took my time. I sipped coffee and I sipped wine. I remembered that my husband is my hero. It was a great week.
No, there are no regrets. The closets can be cleaned out later!

It's Spring Break....Let the Cleaning Begin!
So it's Spring Break around here. Casey's off from school (which is only one day a week, but still...), lots of our friends are out of town seeing family, and I have a number of household projects I'm dreaming of accomplishing this week. Such as...
- cleaning out our closets. If we didn't wear it last year, we're not gonna wear it this year. It's outta here!
- cleaning out the fridge. I already worked on this a bit when I brought in the new groceries. It's so shameful the amount of food I throw away! Anyways, still gotta wipe the shelves and deal with all the jars and such in the door. Oooh, and the freezer. Ugh! I hate cleaning out the freezer. I never know what to do with all the food I'm storing in there. How long is too long to be frozen? I never know. Let me just be honest with you and with myself...I'm probably not going to eat it!
- putting some furniture items on Craig's List! We have several pieces of furniture in our garage that I've been wanting to either sell at a garage sale or put on Craig's List. I think I'm gonna give Craig a try. I've never done it before. I'm excited. Show me the money, Craigy Boy!
- build or (more likely) prepare to build a deck in our backyard. I am SO excited about this. Our backyard is just kinda gross. I don't like being back there. So, with the help of some of our handy Brenham friends we are going to create a lovely place to sit and talk and play and enjoy the outdoors. I HOPE I get to show you some before AND after pics this week.
That's it, I think. It's good that I've posted this...now it will be harder for me to talk myself out of getting these jobs done! :) If you've blogged about it...you're committed, right?!
And just FYI- I WILL be wearing pearls, a sundress (with petticoat) and pumps while accomplishing all these tasks. If you want to DO your best you have to LOOK your best! That's my motto!

Excuses, Excuses, Excuses!
I thought I would offer some excuses as to why I have been such a negligent blogger as of late.
1. My dog ate my computer.
2. We have some VERY demanding friends. There names are Jack, Bill, Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Simon, Paula, Michael, Jim, Pam, Liz and Jack. Man, we know a lot of Jacks! Anyways, they are so annoying...they just show up in our house every week sucking us into their drama. It's really becoming a problem.
3. Who can stay inside and blog with weather like this?
4. There are people over at our house virtually every night of the week. (Apparently we are the only people in Brenham with cable and a good TV. See item number 2.)
5. I couldn't decide on a new blog background until today.
6. Crafting, crafting, crafting. I'm sticking to my Christmas goal, girls! Woo Hoo!
7. Reading, reading, reading. I am still on the same book that I've been since...oh I don't know...October! So yes, trying to finish that. Plus, I'm going through a couple of other churchy books.
9. I've been trying to spare you from pointless blog posts. Today, I've made an exception. Obviously.
10. My dog died. He did eat a computer after all. We're just heartsick over it.*
So there. That's the truth...okay well, most of it.
I will try to get back to my regular blogging self. I do have things to share. I guess I'm just gonna have to neglect my friends and family a little more!
JUST KIDDING! JUST KIDDING!
*If you are concerned about the truthfulness of this excuse, allow me to refer you to the comment section.
